hydrofarm grow lights, ballast, reflector

I've really gotten into gardening lately... it's very therapeutic for me, and I was a bit dismayed by the idea of cutting my growing season short due to the weather!

So... I've begun toying with some indoor growing to supplement my newfound addiction so I can prepare plants to move out into the garden after the last frost. This has been a really great introductory system, allowing me to get used to the idea of not relying on Mother Nature for nearly everything, without overwhelming me or my available space.

I use the system with a glass lens and an exhaust system (probably another $60 total) which keep it cool so I don't have to worry about my baby plants wilting. The light is BRIGHT!

Be careful to have the ballast set to the proper bulb when plugging it in, as there is no on/off switch. I made this mistake and plugged it in thinking the switch on the back was on/off.. I guess there is a reason to RTFM. Luckily, I hadn't turned on the outlet it was... Read more
