This light can be used as a weapon. What's the point of concuss, flashbangs, or rifles? This is the most offensive light I have ever encountered. I was wincing at it's light falloff with its back facing me, absolutely blinding. How does this not disintegrate leaves without heat? If you want to directly penetrate your vegetation to a cellular level, I suggest you get a HID, but if you want to stick an anabolic steroid of infrared light in a quantum level into every living atom and make your plants laugh at the sun before bed, than this is your light. I had purchased the 250 W before but this is it's grand father from back when light wasn't spoiled by lower wattage and needed to grow redwood so mankind can live in log cabins.

I got into growing tropical plants last year. This is not a trivial hobby to have in Connecticut, as CT is in Zone 6b with a minimum winter temperature of -5 to 0 degree F. I tried Hydrofarm JSV2 2-Foot Jump Start T5 Grow Light System last winter. It worked well, but with a ground clearance of 26", it limited my collection to young plants.

As this year's winter approaches, I know I need a more serious set-up, since one of the papayas has grown to nearly 5' tall over the summer. I eventually decide that I have to get the largest growth-light fixture available to the regular consumers, and this HydroFarm becomes the obvious choice.

My wife would only allow these large plants in the unfurnished part of the basement, so I had to do some electric work, splicing the wire for overhead lighting to add an outlet. This... Read more

How much can you say about a light fixture. The package is incredibly secure, the bulbs each have four 3/4 round foam bumpers. The light is well built with high end materials. There are 2 switches with my 6 light fixture. One works 2 lights, the other 4. Installed 2 mos ago and my tomato seedlings are lovin' it. This was a great price to boot. Most highly recommended.

I was not sure what to do with all my trees over the winter. I made a mistake and forgot to water my 40 year old ficus which has an amazing 10 inch trunk. I also have been babying my serissa for about 8 years and have had many sections die off. I knew my main problem was that they were not getting the right amount of light over the winter in the north east parts of Massachusetts. This year I decided I would build a bonsai hospital. First I had to sort out an area that my darn plant eating cat could not get into. Then I ordered this light. I went a few steps further and went to my local home hardware store and bought a set of 2" PVC pipes and fittings making a jig to hold the light up about 5 feet off the ground. Then I put the light on a timer and ended up not only reviving my 40 year old ficus, but my serissa looks better than it does after a warm bright wet summer!
