I received this item from hydroponics market. The shipping was quite fast, a few days max. But when I opened the box, the bulb itself was broken in multiple spots. I talked to a guy named Tony, and he told me he would gladly ship me a new bulb. But suprise suprise... A new bulb never came! It would have been a great value if the bulb had been intact, but this was not the case. Don't buy this product online. The bulb WILL be broken. Just go to your local hydroponics store instead! At least you can inspect the product before you buy it!

This grow light seems like a good product, however I never had a chance to try it out. The first time I placed an order, the light bulb came with a crack and only one half of it lit up. I after a return and a re-order, the light bulb was completely broken. The problem seems to be with the inadequate packaging of the bulb. The first time around, the bulb was in a separate box, and with gentler handling by UPS, I believe it would have arrived intact. The second time, however, the light bulb was screwed into the light fixture, which was clearly not a good idea.

I currently own two of these lights and I am very happy with the performance/ results so far. I've been using these for a month. I'm using these 2 lights to cover a 2' x 4' reflective area. They cover this area perfectly with good penetration. The fans are fairly loud but not annoying. The LED's are causing the leafs to have a very deep green color that I haven't seen using CFL's, flourecents, MH, etc. Not better or worse just different. As far as growth rate it is hard to tell if the LED's are causing faster or slower growth. Probably about the same but would say the plants seem fuller with the LED's. Previous heat concerns are done away with. So far I am very happy with these and I believe they are worth a try.
UPDATED. I've been using these lights for a few months now and I am a firm believer. The key is figuring out the proper height. Raise them higher approx. 2 to 3 feet if you want the plant to stretch a bit or 12 to 16 nches if you want the plant to get bushier. Also... Read more

Got this light on December 26, 2011 and I didn't want to post a review until I ACTUALLY USED THE LIGHT for a while. I will come back and give a future update as well because this light deserves it.
Jan-16-2012 As I do with everything, I did so much research on LED lights it was ridiculous. I'm was a huge skeptic of LED lights and growing with them so I wanted to make sure I got the very best and avoided all the gimics out there, and there's a lot of gimic LED lights so be careful. After a while I got sick and tired of reading about how 1W LED's are the only way to go and then seeing a new 5W LED light come out and claim to be the greatest. I couldn't find anything reliable on which way was the way to go and what was better. I kept researching and researching and this is what I've learned so far. LED grow lights do NOT cover very much area and if they say they cover 3ftx3ft they are simply lying, LED lights are very targeted and cover the area they hang directly over... Read more

I ordered this to replace my 250 watt HPS grow light primarily to save on electricity. While it's a good product and seems well made, it doesn't live up to its promises. It does not illuminate a 9-square foot area, more like 4 square feet, and while my plants have grown under it, they are not doing as well as before. After a 3 week trial, I decided to return it and go back to the HPS light. Too bad. I think it might be effective for vegetative growth but less so for flowering.

This light can be used as a weapon. What's the point of concuss, flashbangs, or rifles? This is the most offensive light I have ever encountered. I was wincing at it's light falloff with its back facing me, absolutely blinding. How does this not disintegrate leaves without heat? If you want to directly penetrate your vegetation to a cellular level, I suggest you get a HID, but if you want to stick an anabolic steroid of infrared light in a quantum level into every living atom and make your plants laugh at the sun before bed, than this is your light. I had purchased the 250 W before but this is it's grand father from back when light wasn't spoiled by lower wattage and needed to grow redwood so mankind can live in log cabins.
